“Mina’s Choice”, “Life+1 Day” lead nominations at Fajr festival

TEHRAN -- Director Kamal Tabrizi’s infidelity drama “Mina’s Choice” and Saeid Rustai’s poverty and drug movie “Life+1 Day” each received nine nominations in various categories including best film and best director at the 34th Fajr Film Festival, the organizers announced on Tuesday.
Starring Milad Keymaram and Mina Sadati, “Mina’s Choice” is about the happy marriage of Mina and Mehran, which falls apart in the wake of mistrust and finally infidelity.
Rustai’s debut film “Life+1 Day”, starring Peyman Moaadi and Parinaz Izaryar, is about a lower-class family suffering from drug addiction and poverty in a deprived neighborhood in Tehran.

---------- Fajr nominations in side sections
The 34th Fajr Film Festival announced on Sunday the nominations in the New Look, Cinéma Vérité, Art and Experience Cinema, and animation sections.
In the New Look section, which is dedicated to debut films and second directorial films, two Crystal Simorghs are awarded to best film and best director.
“Life+1 Day” directed by Saeid Rustai, “Red Nail Polish” by Seyyed Jamal Seyyed-Hatami, “Standing in Dust” by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian and “Born in 86” by Majid Tavakkoli received nominations in both categories.
“A House on Street 41” produced by Syed Mahmud Razavi won a nomination for best film and “My Brother, Khosro” by Ehsan Biglari received a nomination for best director.
In the Cinéma Vérité section, three Crystal Simorghs will be awarded in the categories of best documentary, best documentarian, and best art and technical achievement.
“Daybreak Dreams” by Mehrdad Oskui, “A157” by Behruz Nuranipur and “Khane Bi Khan” by Hadi Masumdust received nominations in all the categories.
“Freedom” directed by Reza Farahmand and Komeil Soheili, and “Pruning Season” by Loqman Khaledi were two other nominees in the best documentarian category.
“Zmnako”, directed by Mehdi Qorbanpur and produced by Mohammad Shakiba, was nominated for best documentary while “Residents of a One-Way Street” directed by Reza Teimuri and “The Abandoned House” by Seyyed Hassan Seyyedi-Parishan were the other nominees for best art and technical achievement award.
The award for best art and technical achievement is presented to the director of cinematography of a documentary project.
The nominees for the Art and Experience Cinema section, which is dedicated to art films, are “Wednesday” by Sorush Mohammadzadeh, “The Dog and the Crazy Lover” by Ali-Mohammad Qasemi, “Immortal” by Hadi Mohaqqeq, “Profile” by Iraj Karimi and “A Very Ordinary Citizen” by Majid Barzegar.
The Crystal Simorgh for best animation will be awarded to one of these movies: “The King of Water” by Majid Esmaeili, “Persian Gulf 2” by Farhad Azima, “Holy List” by Mohammad-Amin Hamedani and “In the Rain Direction” by Hamed Katebi.
Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony of the festival on Thursday.
